Can I use the tools without installing the app?

Yes. You can play Stockfish 19 in your browser, set up and analyze positions in the board editor, read and check a FEN with the FEN viewer and calculate rating changes with the Elo calculator.

What does the app add to the browser tools?

Scanning positions from photos, screenshots and book diagrams, Stockfish 19 with the full network offline, game reports for your Chess.com and Lichess games, a clock, hints and tablebases.

Which guide should I read first?

If you are new to chess, start with setting up the board and chess notation. If you want to improve, read about the game review and practise checkmate patterns.
